Part 2

Plan 30 minutes with your manager or a work colleague who manages staff. Describe the clip to them, or ideally show them the video.

Regardless of whether your work is in a clinical or non-clinical area, discuss how you would handle this situation if a member of your staff spoke about a patient or colleague in this way. Record in your learning journal:

• What are the specific behaviours which you would want the staff member to change? How would you facilitate this?

• What could you do to support the staff member in recognising that changes are needed?

• In your view, what would be examples of good outcomes from working with the staff member on this issue? 

• What would be unsatisfactory outcomes from your point of view and why?
