Part 1
Make time to ask four members of your staff or colleagues how approachable they think you are. It may be that this can be discussed as part of your Narrative 360 degree work, or you may just choose to ask them in passing.
From your work on considering leadership as a position and therefore impacting the authority gradient, what new insights do you have about your own behaviour as a leader? Note your reflections in your learning journal.
Part 2
Now join the Tutor Group Discussion Forum and/or raise it at your next Action Learning Set (ALS) (or Inquiry Application Group (IAG) for GMTS participants) to share experiences of a relationship at work where you have had an unapproachable manager.
Think also about any experience you have of a shallow authority gradient where your manager has been very approachable.
